There are many services the MSAR provides for its' community. Certain aspects of search and rescue require special training and skills. At certain times, other specialty groups will assist MSAR.

Ground Search
In Mission, a ground search will usually consist of mountainous areas. The terrain can often be treacherous and your MSAR team trains in these areas on a regular basis to become more aware of the area and what is the best way to get a subject out so he/she can safely rejoin their family.

CASARA - Civil Air Search & Rescue Association
CASARA is a Canada-wide volunteer aviation association dedicated to the promotion of Aviation Safety, and to the provision of air search support services to the National Search and Rescue Program. In April 1986 CASARA incorporated independent provincial and regional groups that were formed before to form a National Organization. Presently, CASARA operates in all thirteen (13) provinces and territories and has access to approximately 375 aircraft and has 2596 certified pilots, navigators and spotters to fill the positions of crewmember.

Urban Search
The Urban Search and Rescue team involves locating, rescue (extrication), and initial medical stabilization of victims trapped in confined spaces. The USAR Team is considered a multi-hazard discipline. A team may be needed for a variety of emergencies or disasters, including, but not limited to earthquakes, hurricanes, storms, tornadoes, floods, dam failures, technological accidents, terrorist activities, and hazardous material releases.

Civil Emergency Preparedness
Mission Search & Rescue has the skills to assist in civil emergencies and disasters. The team can provide communications, first aid, and other assistance to the community to help alleviate distress caused by floods, earthquakes, and other natural and man-made disasters.
